Manassas Railway Festival 2004 |
||
| As we have every year, the Prince William County Model Railroad Club was one of the participants in the 10th Annual Manassas Railway Festival on June 5, 2004. Despite rain and wind all morning, all the layouts were set up either under tents or under the large pavilion. We managed to keep everything dry and the rain finally stopped and the crowds began to arrive around noon. Forgetting the wet morning, a good time was had in the afternoon. | ||

While many attendees rode the Virginia Railway Express excursion trains, Max & Jane's model of Fredericksburg Station was getting it's share of commuter traffic for much of the day. |
|
While the Norfolk Southern freight trains rolled by our tent, there was equally heavy NS action on the layout. Brion's nicely weathered NS pounds across the bridge on Ed's module. |

Walt's Union Pacific brought back memories of experimental railroading from days gone by. UP X-73 was a turbine locomotive. The installed sound system sounds like the real thing...especially up close. |

Brion debuted his version of the Southern Crescent at the Railfest. The distinctive green livery rolls through the southern hills. |

As Brion's Southern passes an abandoned crossing and switch tower, we're reminded of the great bygone days of steam. |

With a crew fresh from a great breakfast, the Reading glides by Lew's row of brightly painted houses. It seems the police want to talk to the driver of that unusual car. |

Fredericksburg is a busy place these days. Those passengers should hurry if they are going to catch Amtrak. Module by Max & Jane, Amtrak by Bob. |

Walt's UP gets around the layout fast. The turbine noise was too much for these bystanders. |
