Standing FiguresbyMat Thompson |
||
| What makes one layout stand out compared to others?
Or one module more interesting that others? Perhaps it's in the
details. A master of detail is Mat Thompson who crafts outstanding
structures, signs, track, and many other items, including standing
figures.
Adding people to a scene makes it come alive with activity. But so many figures have an ugly plastic base or a 'transparent' base that's very noticeable. Mat has solved the problem...easily. |

Here's a crossing on Mat's module as Tim H. rolls by with a PWMRC club car. An otherwise static scene is alive with the figure holding the sign and stopping traffic. |

Here's another view of our fearless workman as a high speed freight passes. Notice the figure has no base to detract from the realism. |

Lifting the figure slightly, we find the secret. Mat has inserted two short wires in the figures legs and drills matching holes in the scene. |

In this close up, we see the two small wires that make such a difference. |
