The Prince William County Model Railroad Club was part of the "World's Greatest Hobby" show in Chantilly, Virginia on February 11th & 12th, 2006. Using both of the exhibit halls, the event was crowded with railfans of all ages. There were more than 15 layouts of all scales with thousands of attendees enjoying the hobby. Enjoy the photos of the PWMRC layout at this show.

We continue to build our 'home' layout at the Depot in Quantico, Virginia ...visit our Depot Main page.

Rob's R.F. & P. is hard at work at the crossing just west of Edston. For a small road, it is quite busy today...the local police get a bit of a rest as the train rumbles by.
Photo by Jim Connal Everybody loves to see the big steam engines working and on the PWMRC modular layout there is always some steam action. With a bit of imagination, you can hear the rumble & the hiss and the creaking of the trestle as this iron horse passes over the river Brion's module.
With a passenger station and a river port, Edston is always a busy place on the layout. Dave's C & O is running smooth and making good time as it passes Main Street in Edston.
Photo by Jim Connal Brion's Town of Peabrake is always full of trains. The through yard is kept busy with a wide variety of freight and passenger operations. The Mississippi Central rumbles by as the Southern passenger train waits for the signal to clear.
With the magic of model railroading, it's any season you like. On Bill's Bear Creek Bridge, the fall colors are at their peak as Jane's high speed Santa Fe passenger train passes over the bridge heading west.
Photo by Jim Connal Detailed scenery is what it's all about on Fletch's modules. Great care with the track work, road, mountains and the general store in the background makes for a great looking scene. With one hand on the throttle, Rob's Seaboard moves on down the line to the delight of our visitors.
One of the big advantages of a modular layout is that each club member can do almost anything on their modules. Tim B. is developing his latest set of modules using the "Free-mo" system. With one module as part of the mainline, the additional modules are a branch line with plenty of operating possibilities. Tim's Jersey Central is heading onto the mainline for a quick trip to the next town.

Photo by Jim Connal The bridge at Edston is always a popular place for visitors to watch the trains speed across. Don is keeping a careful hand on his throttle as his CSX lash-up passes through the multi-section girder bridge and brings back memories of river crossings everywhere.
Bob's Nickel City Line is on time with a load of commuters headed home after a long day at the office. Bob's module represents the crossing at Bristow, Virginia ...including White Elephant Antiques across the tracks. Look close and you can see the sign as well as the elephants in the windows.
