This year's schedule of clinics is the biggest PWMRC has ever presented.Our talented members show you how to build the layout of your dreams.   Clinics are free and will last 30 to 45 minutes.  Various aspects of model railroading will be presented by accomplished, experienced modelers.

"Installing DCC decoders in locomotives"

Saturday March 18th at 12:00 Noon

Ernie will share his experience in the delicate process of installing a DCC decoder in a locomotive.  Layouts with DCC allow the realistic operation of many trains on the same track at the same time.  Featuring wireless control, DCC operation also allows the control of lights and sounds while running.

"Rock making and carving"

Saturday March 18th at 1:00 PM

Using everyday plaster and simple tools, Brion will create a wide variety of realistic rocks in HO Scale.  Watch how a lump of wet plaster is transformed into the perfect backdrop for your trains.  After building the rocks, Brion will show how to turn white plaster into a rock cliff that has all the colors of nature.  Watch for the flying plaster.


"How to build an HO module"

Walt will demonstrate the building of a basic HO module suitable for use on the PWMRC layout.  Using the PWMRC Module Standards as a guide, Walt will show the step-by-step process for getting your module ready for operation.  Each module is 4 feet by 2 feet and can be combined with dozens of other modules to build a large layout.

"Digital Command Control - Basic to Advanced"

Scott will help to de-mystify the secrets of DCC. Begining with the most basic parts of DCC, Scott will journey all the way to full computer control for your layout. "Using  Styrofoam in Scenery"

Tim will show how easy it is to use Styrofoam (extruded polystyrene insulation board) as a base for model railroad scenery.  Using a variety of cutting tools, including electric tools, Tim will demonstrate the shaping of the insulation board to prepare it for final scenery.  Everything from streets to mountains is easy...and Tim will show you how.

"Weathering rolling stock and buildings"

Sunday March 19th at 2:00 PM

Brion will show you how to make a plain model to look like a billion bucks in a few minutes.  Using his experience and artistic flair, Brion will use a variety of common materials to transform a freshly made kit into a great looking piece that will look good on any layout.  Watch closely, he moves fast.


"Making realistic scale trees - From scratch"
by Dave Ptak

Sunday March 19th at 3:00 PM

Dave will show his uncanny ability to make great-looking trees in just minutes. Before your very eyes, Dave will begin with commonly found materials and turn them into realistic trees in minutes. Audience participation is encouraged. Dave will also share many of his tips that make the tree-building foolproof.
