Prince William County Model Railroad Club

Modular Layout

This drawing is a representation of our club's modular layout..  Our layout has appeared at many professional and community shows in Virginia and Maryland since 1995.

Each member may choose, if they wish to construct one (or more) 2 foot by 4 foot section(s) .  The design and scenery are left up to the member as long as the PWMRC Module Standards are followed.  Our club members model prototypical areas including Manassas, VA; Bristow, VA; Remington, VA; Harpers Ferry, WV; and Clifton, VA.

Others model free-lanced areas such as large canyons, valleys, bridges and highway accidents.  We have modules with animated effects such as a smoking brush fire, arc welder and an operating crossing with working lights.  Members spend many enjoyable hours putting together modules that they proudly display at our public shows.

Our layout is controlled by the Digitrax® digital command control system.  We operate over 3 scale miles of mainline trackage with multiple trains running in different directions.  A large 8 track staging yard sits within the main layout to assemble and disassemble trains out of the public's view.  The layout also has several large industries that provide the opportunity for switching and placing of rail cars.

PWMRC is a 501(c) (7) Non-Profit Organization
