| On April 27, 2005 the Virginia Railway Express held the Grand Re-Opening of the Depot in Quantico, Virginia. The Prince William County Model Railroad Club was invited to participate as guests of VRE. PWMRC set up a 24' by 24' layout in the South Room of the Depot as part of the festivities. Officials from VRE, Prince William County and the Town of Quantico offered speeches and cut the ribbon prior to an evening of celebration. More than 100 people were in attendance and enjoyed the fine food, music and model railroading. |

| PWMRC has signed a contract with VRE to occupy the South Room of the Depot, which was the old REA baggage room, built in the early 1950s. We are actively planning a museum-quality layout for the Depot, which will be open to the public. | |||||

| To show our appreciation, PWMRC presented commemorative club cars to several supporters. A smiling Mayor Raftelis, Supervisor Caddigan and VRE's Dale Zehner show off their trains. We hope they will join us in running trains on our new layout. | |||||

Our modular layout was one of the highlights of the Grand Re-Opening. On the left is Bob's highly detailed scene of the crossing at Bristow, Virginia. | ||||
| Moving around the layout we find a detailed Fredericksburg Station as modeled by Max & Jane. Fredericksburg is a busy stop on the VRE. |

With the U.S. Marine Corps as our neighbors, we feel that we will have the safest model railroad in the world. The Quantico Marine Band entertained during the Grand Re-Opening. We were also honored by the presence of a Marine Honor Guard for the event. |

| The future of PWMRC...many members of PWMRC are working hard on planning and preparation for building our home layout. Here is an artists' conception of our plan as drawn by Brion. We plan on having a museum-quality layout that will be open to the public for various events, open houses and meetings. | |||||
